Saturday Boarding the boat
A tour of
the old town - gather at the railway station - the town? – impressive! - the
guide? - less impressive - the streets?- steep – the town is busy - they are
preparing for tonight’s Medieval festival
- pass historic homes with local inhabitants going about their daily
chores - the guide pauses – some communication between guide and owner - where
are they from? - Australia! – bring them in! - cannot imagine that happening in
Beechworth!
The tour
drags on - too many historic towns in too short a time - Bernie and I join the attrition
statistics for the day - we adjourn to the quaint beer garden we spied on the
tour - lunch - that is amazing food - photograph that!
Time to sit
at the Spa - we sit - we doze - back to
the hotel – the traveler’s luggage has to be conveyed to the boat - call at maxi
cab – haul out the luggage – hide inside - Bernie greets the driver - take me to
the boat-a look of amazement briefly occupies his countenance - he gets the
joke - appreciates the assistance in loading the bags.
The
travelers are checked in and aboard Patria with amazing efficiency - we will stay
in Bad Wimpfen on board till the morning.
Back into
town to enjoy the festival- wander - everyone in Medieval dress save the
tourists - kids – adults - everyone! - Fantastic.
